“U.S. Business Briefing: Armenia” conference took place today in Yerevan, where Armenian investment environment was presented along with investment opportunities and prospects of development.

The one-day business conference was organized by the U.S. Embassy in Armenia, the Armenian American Chamber of Commerce, the Armenian Ministry of Economy, and Converse Bank.

“One of my priorities, as Ambassador, is to further developing our bi-lateral economic ties. The U.S. Embassy and our colleagues at the Ministry of Economy are working to strengthen our joint commercial ties to the benefit of both our nations’ economies,” said U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills.

Armenian Minister of Economy Artsvik Minasyan attached importance to this conference, noticing that it’s a good opportunity to discuss not only Armenian-American business potential and further cooperation, but also the issues that Armenia is facing and needs to solve in order to develop its economy.

Artsvik Minasyan stressed the necessity of the fight against monopolies, which greatly hinder the natural development of economy. He recalled the famous speech Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan gave recently on the fight against monopolies, emphasizing that certain orders have been given in that direction.

“Our country’s number one enemy is uncertainty, our opponent is the systematic inconsistency, and our main barrier is the lack of qualified specialists,” said the Minister.

The conference featured presentations on economy and investment environment in particular by the Ministry of Economy and other Armenian Government officials, the Central Bank of Armenia, Armenia’s stock exchange, EBRD, IMF and the Asian Development Bank.
