SCR ready to realize railroad communication in Kars-Gyumri direction
Yerevan /Mediamax/. The volume of investments of “South Caucasus Railroad” CJSC in 2009 will make 2bln 600mln rubles (about $74mln).
As the Deputy Director on Infrastructures of SCR Marat Khakov stated at a news conference in Yerevan today, the main part of investments will be spent on reestablishment of infrastructures of the Armenian railroad. He, in particular, noted reestablishment of 100km of railway equipment, improvement of the quality of energy supply, repair of coaches, etc.
Marat Khakov noted that on May 25 realization of summer passenger transportation will be initiated. The Deputy Director stressed that, just like last year, SCR intends to open communication between Yerevan and Batumi.
Talking about Kars-Gyumri railroad communication, Marat Khakov noted that given political decision, the company intends to immediately take up realization of communication, adding that all the necessary repair works have already been carried out.
